Required since 2025: what accessibility means for your website

Many digital services now have to meet new accessibility requirements. Here is what matters and how to make a sensible start.

For many companies, web accessibility is no longer just a mark of quality. Since 28 June 2025, certain products and services have to meet new legal requirements. This is especially relevant for online shops, booking flows and digital services.

The good news: many improvements start with simple, clear steps.

What it comes down to

A website is more accessible when more people can use it on their own. That includes, for example, people with low vision, limited motor control, hearing impairments or cognitive impairments. In practice it comes down to things like sufficient contrast, legible text, keyboard operation and meaningful alternative text.

Where to start

  • Check contrast and font sizes on your most important pages.
  • Test whether key functions can be operated with the keyboard.
  • Add alternative text for images that carry meaning.
  • Pay attention to clear headings and understandable link text.

Clean HTML stays the foundation. Accessify adds functions like contrast, read aloud and larger text to your website. That gives visitors extra ways to work with your content.
